Flounder O’Toole is on a treadmill to nowhere. But after one spectacularly bad night, a famous former classmate offers him and his bumbling buddies an unlikely opportunity: backpack across Spain, on camera, for a shot at a million-dollar prize.
Bella Ventura’s chosen course is the Camino de Santiago,
the ancient pilgrimage trail celebrated for its scenic landscapes, historic
villages, and mystical lore. Whoever completes the 500-mile hike within
thirty-three days will share the prize.
To the clueless contestants, it sounds like easy money. But
Bella has also devised a list of Camino Commandments sure to make blisters the
least of their problems.
Step by step through the beautiful Spanish countryside,
secrets surface, suspicions deepen, and Bella’s demands evolve from difficult
to dangerous to deadly.
What has changed the old friend they thought they knew?
Is Bella seeking ratings, relationships, or revenge?
A story of failure and forgiveness, of losing and finding your way, El
Camino Loco is a humorous and heartfelt tale about the strange providence
of life—and the possibility that even our worst detours may lead to where we are meant to be.
